The Sierra Foundation knows that being a new teacher in a district comes with incidental classroom expenses. This is especially true of first-year teachers in a classroom for the first time. That is why for the second year we have awarded all new teachers to the district $250 for experienced teachers and $500 to first-year teachers. It is our way to welcome them to the district and help them get started in their classrooms.
In the 2022/23 school year, the Sierra Foundation created a "mini-grant" initiative, designed to support classrooms and teachers with small grants and a streamlined process. The program was a great success--the Sierra Foundation awarded 53 mini-grants totalling over $42,000! Grants were awarded throughout Sierra Unified TK-12 classrooms and programs, and also to our TK-8 feeder schools, Big Creek and Pine Ridge. We are thrilled with the response, and the immediate impact the Foundation is having across so many classrooms. Together, we continue to work toward the Foundation's vision of reaching new heights in educational excellence.
